I guess what I don’t understand, is why we can’t export/force advertisers and ad-buyers to learn how to do their jobs. Why can’t they decide what their target audience is, and then figure out what podcasts best fit that audience and let the results speak for themselves, rather than playing the numbers.
If they were to advertise on TV, radio, newspapers, etc. they wouldn’t have that data. And, if they advertise via social or other heavily tracked avenues, they don’t have anything to mark their level of success against than itself and the concept the social media outlets have sold the industry (ie. the magic sauce).
IMO, it is lazy and rude to try to force audiences and content producers into their damaging demands just because they think they can.
